HMRC Forms

Postby Michael Rice on Fri Jul 16, 2010 10:48 am

I am the Treasurer of the Royal Marines Association Concert Band, which was set up in 2006.The Royal Marines Association is a Registered Charity,( No206003) and the
" Band Branch",is recognised as part of the R.M.A.
The Band have received donations and now have about 400 completed Gift Aid forms, some relating to donations made in 2006.
Could you please tell me how to process these, and what forms need completing for HMRC?
Also, can the repayment be requested to be paid to the "Band Branch"direct?
Thank you,
Michael Rice.
Hon. Treasurer RMAC Band.

Hi Michael,

When you register for Gift Aid, you will be given a choice of which bank account the funds are paid into, so you will be able to nominate the account for your Band Branch.

To initially register to claim Gift Aid, visit HMRC's website and fill in their Charities Application Form. Once registered, to claim Gift Aid you should fill in an R68 form and schedule, listing details of donors and donations. The process is covered in further detail here: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/charities/gift_aid/reclaim.htm

I hope that this gets you started.

Best Wishes,

Katie

Hi Michael,

I'm afraid that Gift Aid can only be claimed on donations from individuals, not organisations or charitable trusts. You need to obtain a gift aid declaration from every eligible individual donor which confirms their status as a UK income or capital gains tax payer.
