Staff and Volunteers as gift aid donors

Postby Carole at Scope on Tue Jan 12, 2010 10:00 am

We are currently writing our gift aid procedures and a query has arisen.

If staff and/or volunteers are given stock for our charity by family, friends or neighbours, and the staff member/volunteer brings them to the shop, is it ok for them to ' gift aid' that stock using their own gift aid number?

Hi Carol,

I'm afraid that you could not legally do this as the item (and therefore the proceeds from it) does not belong to the staff member. Perhaps you could ask teh staff member to take home a Gift Aid declaration form for their relative to sign?
